RESOLUTION NO. 2011-1004
RESOLUTION APPROVING REGULATIONS FOR THE
CEDAR RIVER BOAT HOUSE IN THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA,
that the attached Regulations for the Cedar River Boat House in
the City of Waterloo, Iowa, be and the same are hereby approved.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of October, 2011.

The Cedar River Park Boat House is available for rent through Waterloo Leisure Services.
Rental Fees: The rate for weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) or holidays is $250 for up to 4 hours OR $300 for
up to 8 hours. The rate for weekdays (Monday through Thursday) is $150 per day for up to 4 hours OR $200 for up
to 8 hours. Business Meeting Rate: Up to a 2 hour meeting between 8:30 am -4:30 pm, Monday through Friday,
excluding holidays, no attendant $50.00. Rental fee is due at the Waterloo Leisure Services office with the signed
rental agreement within seven days from making your reservation. Your reservation will not be held past the seven
day time period. The Boat House is available: 8:00 AM through 11:30 PM.
Damage deposit: An additional damage/cleaning deposit of $200 per day is required for the use of the facility.
The damage deposit is due at the Leisure Services office with the rental fee. All or part of any deposit may be
retained against cleanup costs, damage, or loss incurred. If damages exceed the deposit(s), you will be held
responsible for full payment.
Attendant: A City attendant is required for each event. The attendant fee is included in the rental fee.
Refunds: Refunds are reviewed on an individual basis. Refunds must be requested at least 5 business days prior
to your reservation date. The rental fee will be refunded in full if the facility is inaccessible due to flooding. Damage
deposit refunds will be processed within 30 days after the date of your event.
Furnishings and Capacity: There is seating and tables available for approximately 65 people. The maximum
capacity is 126 for the 2nd floor and deck area. The building has 72 chairs, 4 round 48" tables and 10 rectangular
tables, 96" X 30".
Alcohol: Beer and wine are allowed, but only in cans or bottles. Kegs are not allowed. Compliance with Section
123.47 of the Code of Iowa regarding the possession of alcohol by minors and all other rules, regulations, and state
laws is mandatory.
Decorations: Decorating is prohibited as follows:
No tape, duct tape, staples, screws or nails are to be used on chairs, tables, counters, cabinets, doors, walls,
floors, or ceiling.
Set-up and takedown: You are responsible for setting up and arranging the tables and chairs, and for returning all
tables, chairs and any equipment to their original locations.
Cleaning: You are responsible for cleaning after your event. Waterloo Leisure Services is not responsible for any
items left in the building after your event.
Other Regulations:
• Leisure Services has the authority to refuse rental privileges and rescind any and all rental permits for
cause.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to reserve the facility and must be present during the event.
• The Boat House is a smoke-free building. The Iowa Smoke Free Air Act of 2008 governs the areas in
and around the building.
• All decorations, materials, equipment and food must be removed immediately after your event.
• You must report any damaged or missing items that are part of the Boat House.
• Caterers must be licensed and provide proof of liability insurance ($250,000 minimum) prior to event.
• Liquor licensees must provide proof of dram shop liability insurance ($100,000 minimum) prior to event.
