Moved by Welper seconded by Schmitt that the Agenda, as amended, be approved. Voice vote - Ayes: Five. Motion carried. Objective: Discussion of 4th Street bridge art project proposal with the Youth Art Team. Kent Shankel, Cultural & Arts Director, introduced the Youth Art Team. Danny Laudic, Director of Talent Solutions at the Cedar Valley Alliance and Chamber and Youth Art Team, provided an overview of the proposal. The project would allow youth from the Youth Art Team to draw art on 2x12 boards that would line the inside of the bump outs on the bridge and follow the theme of place making. Heidi Fuchtman, Youth Art Team, explained that the project would be ideal for the older youth within the program to lead younger program participants while working on the project. Mayor Hart explained that the proposal would come back to council in the next few weeks and it would allow them the opportunity to allow students to engage in the community. He further explained that the project would not interrupt work on the bridge. Mr. Lind arrived at 4:27 p.m. Danny Laudic explained that there would not be a cost to the city for the project. He further explained that details for maintenance, upkeep, and exhibit management could be looked at in the future. Mr. Schmitt commented that the art would not be seen on the canopy bridge and questioned if the Park Avenue Bridge would be better suited. Danny Laudic explained that the canopy bridge would be a good starting point for having more place making projects across the community. Mr. Morrissey questioned if the project would expand throughout the entire bridge. Danny Laudic explained that the project could expand if the initial section is successful. Mayor Hart commented that this would be a good first step and thanked the group for their unique idea. With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Welper seconded by Schmitt that the meeting be adjourned at 4:32 p.m. Ayes: Six. Motion carried. Kelley Fele e City Clerk
