HomeMy WebLinkAboutHawkeye Community Colledge-5/26/2015MEMORARANDUM OFAGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CTTY OF WATERLOO, IOWA AND HAWKEYE COMMUNITY COLLEGE By mutual agreement of both parties, this Memorandum of Agreement between City of Waterloo and Hawkeye Community College will be in effect from May 1St, 2015. 1. Hawkeye Community College (HCC) will conduct Fire Science classes at the Regional Hazmat Training Center (RHTC). This memorandum constitutes an agreement between the City and HCC regarding the provision of required facilities and services. Major facility and maintenance details of the courses conducted at the RHTC are identified as follows: a. Classroom Facilities. Up to two classrooms during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters on Monday through Thursday evenings, and occasional Saturdays. It is understood that the number of rooms or the day on which classes are held may vary with need. In addition to standard classroom furnishings, instructors may utilize educational technology tools in the classrooms, such as projectors, etc. c. Instructional Staff. All instructional staff who utilize the facility will be approved by the Fire Chief, and HCC Dean of Public Services. All instructional staff will follow the SOG's in place set forth by the Fire Dept. while using the facility. d. Maintenance and Utilities. Maintenance of all equipment owned by the City at the facility shall be the responsibility of the City. Any equipment owned by HCC shall be the responsibility of HCC. Maintenance and utilities costs to the city will be encompassed in the administration of facility use charges (Section G). e. Liability. HCC shall hold the City harmless in the event of injury to students or instructional staff while utilizing the facility. HCC's insurance coverage of students and staff will be in effect while use of the facility, and will list the City of Waterloo as an additional entity insured so long as this agreement is in place. f. Pumping Apparatus. HCC shall pay a usage fee of the pumping apparatus located at the facility of $100.00 per hour. Instructional staff shall document usage of this apparatus in accordance with the facility SOG's. g. Administrative use of facility charges. HCC shall pay the city an administrative fee of $50.00 per course held at the RTC, and a $75.00 per student lab fee for Firefighter I and Firefighter II courses. 3. The contents of this memorandum are mutually agreeable to the City of Waterloo Fire Department and Hawkeye Community College. This Memorandum of Agreement is in effect from May 1, 2015 and will be renewed each year. This agreement will renew each year in May 1St unless written cancellation is provided by either party within 60 days of renewal date. It may be revised at the request of either party subject to mutual agreement of the revisions. This agreement may be terminated by either party with written notice provided within 60 days of the desired date of termination.
