RESOLUTION NO. 2011-922 RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR REQUEST FOR METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1, 138, 780 . 00, WITH A CITY MATCH OF $277, 780 . 00 FOR FY 2012 U. S . HIGHWAY 63 IMPROVEMENTS - CONGER/SWELL STREET TO DONALD STREET, CONTRACT NO. 790, AND AUTHORIZE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT. WHEREAS, THE Highway 63 Improvements is a joint project between the City and the Iowa Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, the enhancement components of this project, including brick pavers at median ends and intersection corners, shade and evergreen trees, pedestrian lighting, decorative roadway lighting, recreational trail, neighborhood monuments (limestone seats) , concrete treatment of intersection corners, benches and trash receptacles, are important components of this plan; and WHEREAS, funding assistance is available through the Black Hawk Metropolitan Area Transportation Policy Board' s Metropolitan' olitan Enhancement Program and the City of Waterloo is in need of such assistance in order to fully develop this project; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo certifies that the FY 2012 U. S. Highway 63 Improvements Project is within its jurisdiction and will remain dedicated to public use and further that the City of Waterloo will have jurisdictional responsibility and will adequately maintain the FY 2012 U.S. Highway 63 Improvements for a minimum of 20 years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the city endorses said application, in the amount of $1, 138, 780. 00, with a City match of $277, 780 . 00, and that with the assistance of Metropolitan Enhancement funds, the development of the FY 2012 U. S. Highway 63 Improvements Project will be completed, dedicated to public use and adequately maintained. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day P of September 2011 . 4rnest .
