RESOLUTION NO. 2011-917
RESOLUTION APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING WITH IOWA NORTHLAND REGIONAL
COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (INRCOG) , AT A
MAXIMUM COST OF $1, 500 . 00 FOR PREPARATION
AND SUBMITTAL OF A SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
(SRTS) GRANT APPLICATION FOR IRVING
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR
AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, SRTS grants are federal transportation grants
administered through the Iowa Department of Transportation to
help in the construction or improvement of pedestrian
accommodations, specifically targeting routes children use to
travel to and from school; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering, Planning, and Traffic Operations
staff has identified the need for the following improvements :
1. Fully signalized intersection at West Fifth and Baltimore
Streets; and
WHEREAS, engineering fees, for this project, for materials
and design and construction review services are estimated to be
$92, 000 . 00; and
WHEREAS, INRCOG has agreed to prepare and submit the SRTS
grant application for $1, 500 . 00, payable only if the grant
application is approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the Memorandum of Understanding
with INRCOG for the preparation and submittal of a SRTS grant
application for Irving Elementary school be is hereby approved
and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute the same
on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
