RESOLUTION NO. 2011-911
RESOLUTION APPROVING SAFE ROUTE EDUCATION &
ENCOURAGEMENT CAMPAIGN SAFE ROUTE TO SCHOOL
(SRTS) GRANT APPLICATION TO IOWA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION AND AUTHORIZE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will create a multi-year Safe
Route Education and Encouragement Campaign to educate children,
and their parents, within the Waterloo Community School District
about proper walking and bicycling practices in order to
encourage more students to walk and bicycle to school; and
WHEREAS, the program will achieve this through an in-school
education campaign that will include educational contests and
prizes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa
authorizes the application to be submitted to the Iowa
Department of Transportation for Safe Routes to School funding,
in the amount of $65, 500 . 00.
