Recommended City Council Action:
Staff has reviewed proposed Change Order No. 6 and recommends Council approve and authorize
Mayor to sign document.
Summary Statement
The project has experienced delays in construction because of utility relocations and adjustments . As a
result, work cannot be completed this construction season on pavement of stage 2 (adjacent to stage 1)
and stage 4 (adjacent to stage 3A). Therefore, to restore the roadway to four lanes of traffic for the
winter shutdown, a 3 -feet wide temporary pavement strip will need to be constructed to bridge between
the new pavement and adjacent existing pavement. The 3 -feet strip will consist of 3 -inches of hot -mix
asphalt over a 5 -inch granular base. The estimated quantities for this temporary pavement gap work
including traffic control will amount to a cost increase of $41,857.50.
Expenditure Required $41,857.50
Source of Funds Federal Aid STP Funds - $33,486 and Local Option Sales Tax Funds -
$8,371.50.

B — Reason for change or extra work:
7007-7009, 8011 Because of delays to the construction progress as a result utility conflicts, work will not be complete on the pavement of Stage 2 (adjacent
to Stage 1) and Stage 4 (adjacent to Stage 3A) and a temporary pavement will be constructed to bridge the 3 -foot gap between the pavements. The
temporary pavement will be 3 -inches of HMA pavement on a 5 -inch modified subbase.
