You are directed to make the following changes in the Contract Documents. Description:
Reason for Change Order:
After completing the milling of the existing asphalt overlay on Taxiway E, the joints in the existing PCC
pavement were able to be visually inspected for the first time. This inspection revealed considerably
more damage at these joints than was previously anticipated. As a result, this change order is necessary
to pay for additional patching to fix the deterioration at these joints.
In addition, the visual inspection of the joints discussed above revealed significantly less joints and
cracks that required filling. As a result, this change order will delete the lineal feet of crack and joint
filling that was not required to help offset the cost of the additional patching.
Also, material testing during the first day of bituminous leveling course placement revealed that the
material that was placed was low on air voids and subject to rejection. The contractor chose to keep this
material in place and take a 50% reduction in payment for the material in lieu of removing the asphalt
and replacing it. As a result, the reduction in bituminous leveling course will be included in this change
order to help offset the cost of the additional patching.

THIS DOCUMENT SHALL BECOME AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT AND ALL
STIPULATIONS AND COVENANTS OF THE CONTRACT SHALL APPLY HERETO.
