Recommended City Council Action: Requesting authorization to initiate the Civil Service
process to fill a Clerk I position at the Waste Management Services Dept. Upon approval of a
certified list by the Civil Service Commission, I also propose to request approval of an
appointment from that list directly to Council.

Current Civil Service list expires February 14, 2012. We would like to start the process for Fire
Lieutenant now so we can select a written test and then post a reading list for potential
candidates. We anticipate promotions later in the year.
