Early in its growth, RedZone found itself uniquely positioned to provide its services to the wastewater collection industry — an industry with numerous costly assets, limited budgets, and aging infrastructure. For 13 years, RedZone's innovative, advanced pipeline inspection technologies provided wastewater managers with the tools to quickly and accurately assess their systems. As a pioneer and current leader in inspection for wastewater collection systems, RedZone Robotics designed and built its own equipment to meet the challenges of high flow and difficult segments. In addition, the importance of the data gathered by the robots cannot be overstated. The use of multi sensor inspections (MSI) to gather data for mid and large diameter lines is crucial. MSI provides advanced assessment with synchronized digital CCTV for clearer images, sonar to calculate sediment levels, laser profiling to detect size, alignment, ovality/corrosion defects, H2S gas detection and air temperature measurement. In response to industry needs, RedZone later developed Solo, an autonomous robot that provides a fast, highly efficient, and cost-effective platform to inspect the abundant quantity of 8" to 12" pipes. Solo is compact, lightweight, and easily deployed in any location accessible by a technician, allowing for access to manholes that a truck -based CCTV platform cannot reach. The tremendous quantity of data gathered from its robotic inspections, RedZone realized, could be instrumental in providing its clients with decision support in budgeting, planning, and providing work order management capabilities. This potential was realized through the development of a GIS -centric, wastewater specific asset management program known as ICOM3. ICOM3 enables more cost efficient and effective capital improvement projects, more tightly integrated inspection viewing, and improved prioritization of repairs and maintenance. RedZone Robotics eliminates the reactive repair cycle and replaces it with simplified, proactive wastewater management. RedZone has been supplying highly advanced pipeline assessment products and services for municipalities, contractors and engineering firms across North America including over 200 cities Atlanta, Akron, Baltimore, Calgary, Cedar Rapids, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, District of Columbia, Dallas, Detroit, Fort Worth, Honolulu, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Montreal, New York, Pittsburgh, Portland, Richmond, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle, Spokane, St. Paul, Toronto, are just to name a few of the many clients that have utilized RedZone Robotics' technology. RedZone goes a step further with V -360 -degree CCTV that provides pan, tilt, and zoom, Laser profiling to detect defects in ovality and corrosion, sonar for sediment and debris, and H2S for gas detection. RedZone's robotic platforms collect data from all sensors in a single pass while our Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) positioning sensor assures that every sensor's data is synchronized in time and space. All data collected is entered in a user-friendly GIS web -based program which has the amazing ability to capture the entire inspection instead of segments and can layer yearly reports to track the conditional change. The software can predetermine the critical need for repair throughout your system. V-360° CCTV — As the expression say, a picture is a thousand words, with RedZone's V -360 - degree pan, tilt, zoom enhanced capability, a picture is a possible thousand defects underground. The ability of this technology reveals a high definition of a digital image that can be viewed in a 360' panorama after the inspection process by a manager or engineer to truly determine the conditional aspects of the pipe. 3D-Lidar Laser - RedZone's has the pipeline covered by capabilities for 3D LIDAR laser (Responder) including the unique spinning 3D laser technology generates precise models of pipe surfaces that reveal minor surface abnormalities as well as accurate ovality measurement whereas some traditional profiling lasers quickly lose accuracy with small deviations in crawler position in large diameter pipe. Synchronized with the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), RedZone's 3D laser analysis software compensates for the robot's movement, providing a true representation of the inner pipe wall and Virtual Mandrel and Bend Radius reports. Sonar - Don't clean to inspect! Many municipalities often clean their pipe of sediment and debris before inspection. RedZone's sonar -based sediment location and sediment volume reports tell you where cleaning is necessary — and where it's not greatly reducing cleaning costs. Sonar is effective in pipes up to 25 feet in diameter and can even provide accurate pipe ID and ovality measurements in fully -submerged pipes (Included on pipe diameters greater than 36"). H2S Gas Detection - Sediment -generated hydrogen sulfide (1125) levels should be monitored over time to ensure that the concentration remains below the threshold required to produce sulfuric acid (2.0 ppm). RedZone's multi -sensor combination of sonar, H2S gas, and laser can uncover sulfuric acid damage in its early stages, before a major structural problem develops. Action can be taken to reduce or eliminate future corrosion, extending the life of your asset and eliminating costly repairs. Temperature sensors record ambient air temperature, which affects the rate of corrosion (Included only on Responder deployments). On top of scanning the pipe itself, RedZone's Laser /LIDAR scans extract the geometry of these chambers and structures. RedZone can create as -built models of these locations, providing a complete and accurate understanding. Results can be provided in variety of formats, along with a dimensioned drawing. Bend Geometry Report Bends, size or shape changes, manholes or chambers, or other geometric features are critical considerations when designing a rehab solution. The presence and location of bends can affect the type of rehab, the specific dimensions of rehab material, and the required location of access pits. RedZone's Bend Geometry report uses Laser/ LIDAR data to identify and measure the geometry of bends. • Identifies and measures all bends >ldegree • Provides drawing to show location and alignment deflection angle of each bend in the pipeline. • Measures bend radius/curvature • Identifies locations and geometry of size changes, shape changes, or other pipe features Virtual Mandrel Report Virtual mandrel reports help engineers make better lining rehab decisions by performing a virtual "what -if" analysis for different sizes and geometries of liners. For example, what length and size of slip liner will fit around a given pipe's measured bends? How will straight sections of slip liner fit into the pipe's curves? Are special slip liner pieces needed for certain areas? Starting with the true measured bend geometry, RedZone can virtually test the viability of different lining parameters that are being considered by the engineer. This report visualizes the different lining options and provides information on clearances and liner -liner deflection angles. Alignment Report Knowing the pipe's underground location affects plans for executing rehab, installing access pits, and managing traffic control or other construction disruptions. Unfortunately, many as - built documents that engineers rely on are non-existent, outdated, or inaccurate. RedZone can incorporate the results of its Bend Geometry Report with known GPS coordinates to ELI show the pipe's centerline and manholes in real world coordinates. Results of the plan and profile are provided as a pdf drawing and CAD file. Alignment reports can be used to locate the pipe in the X, Y, and Z axes with accuracy levels based on the application and scope. RedZone staff can also create a GIS system from paper maps of CAD drawings. Asset information is centralized to one location to allow users to interact so to be able to query information about street location, physical characteristics, and maintenance history. This will allow the user to better plan for budgeting, repairs, and work orders. Report Integration- The flexibility of the system allows for previous, current and future reporting data to be imported. Data collection of V-360° CCTV, 2D Laser and 3D-Lidar Laser, Sonar, H2S Gas Detection can be presented in a synchronized view, linked to the asset. A condition assessment utilizing PACP coding will rank the pipes in order of severity. This ability centralizes the collection system assets and identifies the problems. Decision Support System- The results from the data collection will allow the user to classify and prioritize system deficiencies. Significantly, a decision support system will formulate a program for all the assets to budget and plan for properly. A collection system manager or engineer can understand the severity and priority for maintaining the system. Decisions regarding short-term and long-term rehabilitation projects can be determined. As an example of these capabilities, a risk analysis query of PACP score five pipe will categorize quickly the at -risk pipe. The user can then determine which of them is the most important to correct before failure. This will take into consideration the location and size of the pipe and justify the most important action. The function will provide users to apply in- situ conditions to system assets, in order to create an overall risk score, to assist in rehabilitation and improvement planning. Also, the R3 analysis feature to repair, refurbish, or replace the pipe will give a comparison estimate to decide which of the three options to choose. Work Order Management- ICOM3 has the capability to provide work order management to enable the staff to have a clear understanding of the project needed to be completed. From a centralized system of record, a manager can review and plan task relating to past, present and future projects. Each street will accumulate historical information which results in a complete understanding of the asset. ICOM3 provides a fully functional mobile field application that brings work management directly to the field. The ICOM3 Mobile workforce solution provides scheduling and real-time access of reference data to the maintenance crew. This can result in having real time solutions when decision support is needed.
