Members present: Jones, Schmitt, Lind, Morrissey, Welper, and Hart. Absent: Cole.
Moved by Hart, seconded by Schmitt that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved.
Objective: Proposed Martin Luther King Nature Trail
Charles Pearson, Pearson Consulting, reviewed the idea of the Martin Luther King Nature Trail.
It would be the first MLK nature trail in the United States of America. The request is to
designate the bike trail that goes along MLK Drive, Martin Luther King Jr. Nature Trail, and
then expand it.
Mr. Morrissey questioned the expectation to expand the trail.
Mr. Hart asked to have the culture, history and diversity of Martin Luther King Jr. and the impact
of the designation.
Mayor Clark will look into the ability to rename the trail.
With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Hart, seconded by Schmitt that the
meeting be adjourned at 4:56 p.m. Ayes: Six. Motion carried.
