REQUEST OF JOYCE OAKS ON BEHALF OF HIGHLAND
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION FOR VARIANCE TO
NOISE ORDINANCE ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017
FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M., IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
HIGHLAND NEIGHBORHOOD REUNION & STREET DANCE
EVENT, TO BE HELD AT THE HIGHLAND SQUARE PARK,
INCLUDING MUSIC AND A PA SYSTEM, TOGETHER WITH
RECOMMENDATION OF APPROVAL OF CAPTAIN OF
POLICE SERVICES.
WHEREAS, Joyce Oaks on behalf of Highland Neighborhood Association, is requesting
a variance to the Noise Ordinance from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on September 9, 2017, in conjunction
with the Highland Neighborhood Reunion & Street Dance event, to be at the Highland Square
Park, including music and the use of a PA system, together with the recommendation and
approval of the Captain of Police Services, and
WHEREAS, said event will exceed the limits of Ordinance No. 3094,Noise Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the request of Joyce Oaks on behalf of Highland Neighborhood
Association, for a variance to the Noise Ordinance from 5:00—8:00 p.m., in conjunction with the
Highland Neighborhood Reunion & Street Dance event, to be at the Highland Square Park,
including music and the use of a PA system, is hereby approved.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28ffi day of August 2017.
