RESOLUTION NO. 2017-910
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND
CONVEYANCE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY LOCATED
AT 408 AND 414 FOWLER STREET, TO REBEL SAFFOLD JR.
AND RHONDA S. SAFFOLD IN THE AMOUNT OF $1.00 PER
PROPERTY, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
PREPARE AND DELIVER THE DEED ACCORDINGLY, AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is the owner of property located at 408 and 414 Fowler
Street in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, and legally describe below as:
PARCEL—8913-25-212-004
THE WEST 40 FEET OF LOT 2, BLOCK 7, LANE AND FOWLERS
ADDITION, WATERLOO, BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IOWA
AND
PARCEL— 8913-25-212-003
THAT PART OF LOT NO. 3 IN BLOCK NO. 7 IN LANE AND FOWLER'S
ADDITION TO THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, DESCRIBED AS
FOLLOWS: COMMENCING AT A POINT ON THE NORTH LINE OF LOT
NO. 3, IN BLOCK NO. 7, 80 FEET EAST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER
OF LOT NO. 4 IN BLOCK NO. 7; THENCE RUNNING SOURTH PARALLEL
WITH THE WEST LINE OF LOT NO. 3, A DISTANCE OF 100 FEET;
THENCE RUNNING EAST PARALLEL WITH THE SOUTH LINE OF SAID
LOT NO. 3 A DISTANCE OF 30 FEET; THENCE SOUTH PARALLEL WITH
THE EAST LINE OF SAID LOT NO. 3 TO THE SOUTH LINE OF LOT NO. 3;
THENCE EAST ALONG THE SOURTH LINE OF SAID LOT NO. 3 TO THE
SOUTHEAST CORNER THEREOF;THENCE NORTH TO THE NORTHEAST
CORNER OF SAID LOT NO. 3; THENCE WEST TO THE PLACE OF
BEGINNING.
And,
WHEREAS, an offer to purchase said property, in the amount of $1.00 per parcel, has
been made by Rebel Saffold Jr. and Rhonda S. Saffold, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on November 6, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Harold
E. Getty Council Chambers, City Hall, Waterloo, Iowa, as provided by law, by the Council of the
City of Waterloo, Iowa, on the proposal to sell and convey city owned properties located at 408
and 414 Folwer Street,to Rebel Saffold Jr. and Rhonda S. Saffold, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this council that said sale and conveyance should be
made as proposed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO,IOWA,AS FOLLOWS:

1. The properties located at 408 and 414 Fowler Street, as fully described in the
published notice in the Waterloo Courier on October 27, 2017, are not presently needed and will
not be needed in the foreseeable future for municipal purposes, and its ownership is serving no
municipal purpose.
2. That the offer of Rebel Saffold Jr. and Rhonda S. Saffold to purchase properties for
the sum of$1.00 per parcel, is hereby accepted for the real property as previously described.
3. That the City of Waterloo, Iowa conveys said parcels of real property described above
to Rebel Saffold Jr. and Rhonda S. Saffold by special warranty deed.
4. That the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said special
warranty deeds.
5. That the originals of said special warranty deeds, fully executed and acknowledged,
are hereby approved and confirmed by this Council.
6. That the City Attorney is authorized and directed to deliver said special warranty
deeds to Rebel Saffold Jr. and Rhonda S. Saffold upon receipt of$1.00 per property.
