The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Organizational Meeting at Harold E. Getty Council
Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa, at 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Quentin Hart in the Chair. Roll Call:
Jacobs, Morrissey, Shimp, Klein, Amos, Schmitt, and Juon.
City Clerk, Kelley Felchle, administered the Oath of Office to Mayor -Elect Quentin Hart.
146400 - Juon/Schmitt
that the Agenda, as proposed, for the Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 5:30
p.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
Mayor Hart administered the Oath of Office to newly elected 1St Ward Councilmember Margaret Klein.
Mayor Hart administered the Oath of Office to newly elected 5th Ward Councilmember Chris Shimp.
Mayor Hart administered the Oath of Office to newly -elected At -Large Councilmember Sharon Juon.
Mayor Hart administered the Oath of Office to re-elected 3`d Ward Councilmember Pat Morrissey.

that the Oaths of Office of the Mayor and City Council Members be received and placed on file.
Voice vote -Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
146402 - Amos/Schmitt
that Mayor Hart's recommendation of appointment of Sharon Juon, as Mayor Pro Tem, be received,
placed on file and approved. Ayes: Six. Abstain: One (Juon). Motion carried.
146403 - Amos/ Schmitt
that Mayor Hart's recommendation of appointment of Dan Trelka as Chief of Waterloo Police
Department, be received, placed on file and approved. Roll call vote -Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
146404 - Amos/ Schmitt
that Mayor Hart's recommendation of appointment of Pat Treloar as Chief of Fire Services, be
received, placed on file and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
146405 - Amos/ Schmitt
that Council Members' recommendation to appoint Kelley Felchle as City Clerk, be received, placed
on file and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
146406 - Amos/ Schmitt
that City Clerk, Kelley Felchle's, recommendation to appoint LeAnn Even as Deputy City Clerk, be
received, placed on file and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
146407 - Klein/Shimp
Motion to amend Items 2.4 and 2.5 by changing the terms to a period of six months to perform
realignment, and after six months resume a two year term, if the council decides to reappoint at that
time.
Discussion regarding the term of appointment for the City Clerk and Deputy Clerk took place and
ended with Mrs. Klein and Mr. Shimp withdrawing the motion.
146407 - Schmitt/Morrissey
that Mayor Hart's recommendation of appointment of the following Council Standing Committees
for 2018 - 2019 be received, placed on file and approved:

Mayor Hart explained future plans for reducing the number of standing committees.
