December 18, 1989
5:45 p.m.
Large Conference Room
Members present: Mayor McKinley, Angel, Fox, Buck, Wright,
Brown.
Mayor McKinley presented a response to the Chamber of
Commerce's Citizens Task Force on the City's form of
government. The Personnel Department has drafted a proposed
job description for the position of administrative assistant
including specific duties and responsibilities for the
individual. Proposed salary range for the position is
$35,000 to $40,000. Mayor McKinley stated that with current
budget constraints, the position would not be included in
the FY 1991 Budget.
Discussion was heard on the Chamber's recommendation that
stagger council terms be considered. It was the consensus of
the Committee that City Attorney, Hugh Field, be instructed
to research an Ordinance which would allow for four-year
staggered terms for City Council. It was the consensus of
the Council that the Mayor's term at this time would remain
two years.
No official action was taken on this matter.
With no further business before the Council, the meeting was
adjourned.
