Council Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa at 7:00 p.m. on October 7, 1985. Mayor Bowers in
the Chair. Roll call: Wright, Dowie, Seeber, Getty, Lichty, Penaluna, Klinger.

Mayor Bowers and members of the Council with the City of Waterloo flag.

88158 - Earl Rogers, invited members of the Council to a meeting of Rath Packing Company
unemployed workers. The meeting will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9,
1985, at 515 Lime Street (Boys and Girls Club).
Councilperson Getty congratulated Ron DeChristopher, staff writer for the Waterloo
Courier, on his upcoming marriage (October 28, 1985).
Councilperson Lichty asked why the meeting with Iowa Governor Terry Branstad
scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on October 8, 1985, at City Hall was not open to the
public.
Mayor Bowers indicated that the meeting was closed to the public and that he would
be representing the City's elected body. Councilperson Seeber asked why it has
taken so long for the Governor to respond to the needs of Black Hawk County when
the unemployment problem has existed for such a long time in our community.
