95274 - Bob Stevenson, Transportation Program Manager, stated that the agreement
concerns an alley located near West Mullan Avenue. The Iowa Department of
Transportation had originally proposed that the alley be constructed as a
turnaround. Due to City staff concerns, the staff is recommending the
construction of an alley connection to West Mullan in lieu of the proposed
turnaround. The DOT will reimburse the City $9,433 for the cost of the
turnaround and $26,000 for the cost of one house that will not be acquired with
the alley connection. Additionally, the agreement proposes the extension of
West Mullan Avenue to U.S. Highway 63. City staff contends that the Mullan
connection will better serve the traffic pattern in the Belmont Park area. The
DOT will reimburse the City $83,000 and an additional $12,450 for design cost
for the extension of W st Mullan Avenue. -
