Members absent: Jordan. Moved by Mollenhoff, seconded by Collier that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried. Jordan now present at 4:05 p.m. Deer Hunting presentation - Heather Blevins, representing Concerned Citizens for Urban Wildlife, addressed the council regarding the proposed Bow Hunting issue. Their group would like to make the council aware of safety issues that aren't being addressed. Currently the bow hunting proficiency tests are held in a controlled environment and there is no testing done in the field. The hunter is required to pass with 75% accuracy under perfect conditions. The group is concerned with placing hunters with only a 75% accuracy level out in a park with weather conditions that could lower the accuracy level. It is estimated that hunters will hit two deer to kill one. This will result in an increased danger from wounded deer throughout the park area. Wounded deer could present a danger to walkers and bikers that are unaware that a hunt is going on. There is also concern for the placing of the deer stands near recreational areas which may become less visible if covered with snowfall. Agenda items for the council meeting to be held on Monday, November 14, 1994 were reviewed and discussed with representatives from departments that had items on the agenda. The council was encouraged to view the videotape available at Blockbuster Video which addressed bow hunting and blood trailing. Councilperson Mollenhoff also reminded the council to view the two tapes that had been made available to him. Mayor Rooff offered to make the tapes available in his office for viewing at the convenience of the council. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Anders, seconded by Getty that the meeting be adjourned at 4:50 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Susan Fangman City Clerk
