HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/06/94COUNCIL WORK SESSION October 6, 1994 4:00 p.m. Council Chambers Members present: Mayor Rooff, Jordan, Collier, Krizek, Mollenhoff, Murphy. Members absent: Anders, Getty. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Murphy that the Agenda, as amended, be approved. Ayes: Five. Absent: Anders, Getty. Motion carried. Agenda items for the council meeting to be held on Monday, October 10, 1994 were reviewed and discussed with representatives from departments that had items on the agenda. Deer hunting material was distributed to council members, Council person Mollenhoff stated that additional information from Lynette Riley will be forthcoming. Leap to the Future Don Temeyer, City Planner and Fedon Petrides provided a Leap to the Future 2000 presentation to Mayor Rooff and the City Council. The presentation began with the progressive government segment, identifying program goals and strategies in the area of transportation, neighborhoods, downtown and the environment. Three strategies that could be added to the current plan were discussed. An extension of Highway 63 through the Northeast Industrial Corridor was presented with an estimated cost of twenty million dollars. A plan for an interchange at Ansborough and Highway 20 was projected to be needed for future development. A cut and cover crossing was detailed to make a crossing in the Greenbelt a viable extension of Katoski Drive to Ridgeway Avenue. The Council was asked to review these projects as additional strategies for the metro transportation system development in the Leap to the Future program. The Mayor requested that Leap to the Future 2000 presentations be scheduled on a bi-weekly basis over the next two months to bring the Council up-to-date on plans that have been set and future development. With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the meeting be adjourned at 5:30 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Anders, Getty. Motion carried.
