HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/15/94• COUNCIL WORK SESSION August 15, 1994 4:45 p.m. Large Conference Room Members present: Murphy, Krizek, Getty, Mollenhoff. Members absent: Jordan, Collier, Anders. Moved by Murphy, seconded by Krizek that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Three. Absent: Mollenhoff, Jordan, Collier, Anders. Motion carried. Gary Blair, Coordinator of the Black Hawk County EMS, provided a report of the status of the outdoor warning siren system for Waterloo. Councilperson Krizek raised concerns that none of the options presented to the Council would prevent malfunctions from occurring. Councilperson Murphy inquired whether there would be any federal funds available to aid in the update of the system. Mr. Blair verified that avenues for funding had been pursued and none appeared available. Councilperson Mollenhoff now present at 4:55 p.m. Mr. Blair recommended that the Council proceed with option 2 on an as needed basis, making repairs and modifications at a cost of $300.00 per site. The Council requested he move ahead with this option on the sirens that malfunctioned in the August 15th test and provide an evaluation of the problems at another session in three or four weeks. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Krizek, seconded by Mollenhoff that the meeting be adjourned at 5:10 p.m. Ayes: Four. Absent: Jordan, Collier, Anders. Motion carried. Deborah Collett, Housing Director, reviewed the Section 8 program materials with the Council. Pamphlets are being provided to new tenants and landlords. The pamphlets include inspection information, tenant/landlords rights and program overview. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Mollenhoff, seconded by Krizek that the meeting be adjourned at 5:20 p.m. Ayes: Four. Absent: Jordan, Collier, Anders. Motion carried. Moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Anders. Motion carried. Mayor Rooff discussed the State of City and reviewed council activities and meeting procedures. Mayor Rooff reminded the council that the August 22, 1994 council meeting will be held at Friendship Village Retirement Center, 600 Park Lane. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Krizek, seconded by Collier that the meeting be adjourned at 6:16 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Anders. Motion carried.
