HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/18/94COUNCIL WORK SESSION July 18, 1994 5:00 p.m. Large Conference Room Members present: Mayor Rooff, Jordan, Collier, Krizek, Mollenhoff, Anders, Murphy, Getty. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Jordan that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. The Street Replacement Program for 1995 was discussed. This issue has been discussed at previous council work sessions. Eric Thorson, City Engineer, presented a revised breakdown of paving and oiling records by wards using Federal Aid, Block Grant, G.O. Bonds, Local Option Tax and Road Use Tax funds. It was recommended that Field Street from South Hackett Road to Norris Court be included for overlay in Contract No. 462. Mayor Rooff inquired what could be done to improve the 4th Ward streets. Dick Grimm, Superintendent of Streets, stated that all areas with high density houses have already been oiled. The Mayor suggested that Councilperson Collier devise a list of roads in his ward needing repair and to give it to the Superintendent of Streets. In response to a question by Mayor Rooff, Mr. Grimm stated that it cost approximately $1,000 per block to oil. To include streets in the recycled asphalt pavement program (RAP), there would only be a small difference in cost as the labor has already been budgeted. Councilperson Jordan stated that he did not feel that enough roads in Ward 2 would be improved overall in the proposed 1995 street improvements list. Moved by Getty, seconded by Mollenhoff that the list of proposed street improvements for 1995, as prepared by the City Engineer, be accepted. Ayes: Five. Nays: Jordan, Collier. Motion carried. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Mollenhoff that the meeting be adjourned at 5:40 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Tom Campbell Acting Clerk/Auditor
