Jordan.
Members absent: Collier.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Murphy, Jordan,
Collier. Motion carried.
Agenda items for the council meeting to be held on May 23, 1994,
were reviewed and discussed with representatives from departments
who had items on the agenda.
Murphy now present at 4:10 p.m.
Jordan now present at 4:14 p.m.
A discussion was held on the Street Program for 1995. It was felt
that the following streets should be included in the 1995 Street
Replacement Program at this time, and that the Engineer proceed
with preparing cost estimates, etc. for these streets. They
include: Parker, Maynard, West 3rd, Falls Avenue (Ansborough to
Fletcher) and Downing. The City Engineer will present the list
along with the other streets that were planned for 1995 to the
council members at a work session to be held June 6, 1994.
Assistant City Engineer Dennis Gentz suggested that the council
members take a survey of the streets in their wards and submit them
to his office in order that they can be included in the proposed
list. At that time a decision will be made on which streets will
and can be included in the 1995 Program due to finances and
priorities.
Councilperson Jordan stated that after reading about Cedar Falls
using volunteers in their Fire Department, we should consider
having a document in writing as to what is expected of the Waterloo
Fire Department in regard to backing them up. A possibility would
be a per cost of call charge or entering into a 28E Agreement. The
Fire Chief will check into this and report back to the council
members.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty,
seconded by Krizek that the meeting be adjourned at 5:12 p.m.
Ayes: Six. Absent: Collier. Motion carried.
