Members present: Anders, Collier, Getty, Krizek, Mollenhoff,
Murphy.
Members absent: Jordan.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Collier that the Agenda, as proposed,
be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
Don Temeyer, City Planner, presented the history of the local
option sales tax, including how much money has been received to
date and what streets have been repaired as well as the total cost
since the inception of the tax (August 1991). He presented a slide
production showing some before and after streets, various types of
equipment and the types of repairs done and the pavement management
system listing the conditions of the streets from failed to
excellent for arterial, collector, local and all streets.
Mr. Temeyer reviewed the various factors that are considered when
developing the proposed street improvement project lists. These
include: the overall condition (rating) number from the pavement
management system, the volume of traffic the street carries, the
age of the street, reviewing the amount of time spent maintaining
the street by the Street Department, the type of work each street
needs, the extensiveness of the needed repair and the effect of
other infrastructure projects, and also the distribution of streets
by wards.
Moved by Krizek, seconded by Collier to continue with discussion on
street improvements at the council work session on May 19, 1994.
Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
Moved by Murphy, seconded by Krizek that the meeting be adjourned
at 6:16 p.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
