Members present: Mayor Rooff, Anders, Getty, Krizek, Collier,
Mollenhoff, Murphy.
Members absent: Jordan.
Moved by Murphy, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion
carried.
Eric Thorson, City Engineer, presented the council handouts on the
types of street improvements, citizens' requests for street
improvements, the proposed 1995 Street Improvement Program and the
streets that should be overlayed in 1995. Mr. Thorson said he
wanted the council to start thinking about the streets they want
done next year. His survey crews start in the field in two weeks.
They do their surveying in the summer, design and platting in the
fall and winter and go out for bids in the spring. He said he
records all calls he gets from citizens during the year who want
something done about their streets, which is the citizens' request
list he handed out. He presented a list of milling and joint
repair to be done by the Street Department, patching by
contracting, and that both programs should be included in the
overlay program. The final list he presented was the proposed 1995
Street Improvement Program. This list was developed by the
previous council, and he pointed out nothing was set in stone.
Councilpersons Collier and Anders stated they could not believe
that there were no east side citizens who called in a request in a
year's time for street improvements.
Mr. Thorson stated they would like to receive any requests from the
council for streets to be included as soon as possible. He will
then meet with the council at a work session and finalize what
streets they all want included in the street improvement program.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Collier that the meeting be adjourned
at 6:17 p.m. and this discussion be continued at a work session on
May 16, 1994. Ayes: Six. Absent: Jordan. Motion carried.
