Moved by Getty, seconded by Collier that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Krizek. Motion carried. Don Temeyer, City Planner, continued the discussion in regard to the three properties located on Glenwood Street in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive project that had been previously discussed at the April 18, 1994 meeting. Mr. Temeyer stated that the city could buy the homes for open spaces, but it would be entirely at the city's expense. He also pointed out that there currently is no plan for an open space in that area. These properties do not meet guidelines established for federal participation in the buy out. Mr. Temeyer pointed out the city's policy has been not to buy homes near street construction unless the federal government was picking up the bill. His recommendation is that these properties not be purchased at this time as they do not meet any federal criteria to be purchased. Councilperson Getty stated as long as it does not meet the criteria of the federal government, we should leave it alone for now. He said when the tracks are in and the trains are running, if they still have a problem, lets look at it then. Councilperson Anders said he was against a buy out because of the infrequent use of the tracks. Chicago Northwestern Railroad informed the City Engineering office that there is only four to five trains per week that use the track. He said if there were five trains a day, then he would be nervous. Councilperson Mollenhoff feels waiting for completion of the project was a good idea because he feels new technology will create quieter tracks than what they are familiar with in the area. Councilmembers present agreed to put off plans to buy the three homes on Glenwood Street until they have a chance to see how the completed road project affects the neighborhood. Moved by Getty, seconded by Murphy that the meeting be adjourned at 6:11 p.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Krizek. Motion carried. Tom Campbell Acting Clerk/Auditor
