Members present: Mollenhoff, Anders, Getty, Murphy, Collier,
Krizek, Jordan and Mayor Rooff.
The Agenda, as proposed, was approved.
Fedon Petrides, Bob Bamsey and staff of RUST Environmental and
Infrastructure gave a presentation regarding wastewater collection
and Water Pollution Control facilities of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa.
They presented the Treatment Plant's effluent limits that must be
met by December 1997 for the following pollutants: BOD limit of 25
mg/1, total suspended solids limit of 30 Mg/1, and the ammonia
nitrogen limit of 4.4/10 mg/1.
They stated the current problems connected with the Treatment
Facility include: the age of the plant and limited operational
control features, changing effluent standards by the Iowa
Department of Natural Resources and State Environmental Protection
Commission, waste loads in excess of capacity and high flows during
wet weather.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Murphy that the work session be
adjourned at 6:35 p.m. and reconvened at 4:30 p.m. on Monday,
February 14, 1994. Seven. Motion carried.
