Moved by Getty, seconded by Jordan that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Krizek, Collier, Mollenhoff. Motion carried. Louis Cutwright, Building Official, presented an overview of the building inspection services that are provided to the community by airing a video "Sentinels of Safety". Councilperson Collier now present at 4:50 p.m. After the video presentation, Louis Cutwright informed the council of the need to update the building code to national standards. The Uniform Building Code was last updated to the 1991 standards. The Fire Chief will coordinate an update to the Life Safety Code and Uniform Fire Code at the same time as the Uniform Building Code is approved. The building permit fees are proposed to change to the fees schedules recommended by the National Conference of Building Officials. These fees have not been increased over a number of years and will result in dramatic jump in permit fees. It is estimated that fees will increase approximately forty percent overall. However the fee structure will be presented to the council and can be altered before adoption of the resolution. Along with the changes proposed to the Uniform Building code the Uniform Mechanical Code has not been updated since 1991. This code has been prepared and a final draft will be presented for council action on Monday, February 20, 1995. The Plumbing Code and Electrical Codes are currently being prepared for updating. The Plumbing Board and Electrical Board are working with city staff on the proposed changes. Changes have not been made to these sections since 1985 and 1987 respectively. As soon as final drafts are approved by the boards the changes will be placed on the council agenda so that any permit changes will be placed into effect before the construction season gets into full swing. The council is invited to attend the annual general contractors meeting to be held on February 14, 1995. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Murphy that the meeting be adjourned at 5:25 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Krizek, Mollenhoff, Motion carried.
