The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Special Session at City Hall Council
Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa at 4:00 P.M., on June 30, 1981. Mayor Rooff in the Chair. On Roll
Call: Present: Bowers, Burton, Dowie, Penaluna. Absent: Getty, Roehr, Wilharm.
80747 - Moved by Dowie, seconded by Burton that Copies of the Call for the Special Meeting of
June 30, 1981 at 4:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers, in City Hall, be received and
placed on file. Motion carried.
80748 - Moved by Burton, seconded by Bowers that communication from Insurance Committee making
recommendation on City's health, life and dental insurance, be received and placed on
file. Motion carried.
The City Clerk explained the procedure that the Insurance Committee had followed in
soliciting proposals for the City's health, life and dental insurance. Discussion
followed on how Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Standard of America were chosen for the
recommendation.
80749 - Moved by Bowers, seconded by Burton that "Resolution authorizing the Mayor and City
Clerk to enter into an agreement with Blue Cross/Blue Shield under a self -retention of
risk program for the City's health and dental insurance coverage and Standard of
America for the City's life insurance coverage", be adopted and instruct City Clerk to
notify the unsuccessful insurance companies. Ayes: Bowers, Burton, Dowie, Penaluna.
Absent: Getty, Roehr, Wilharm. Resolution adopted and upon approval by Mayor assigned
No. 1981-345.
80750 - Moved by Burton, seconded by Penaluna that Council adjourn. Motion carried.
