HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/10/95COUNCIL WORK SESSION April 10, 1995 5:30 p.m. Large Conference Room Members present: Mayor Rooff, Anders, Mollenhoff, Getty, Krizek. Members absent: Jordan, Murphy, Collier. Moved by Krizek, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Jordan, Murphy, Collier. Motion carried. Sue Fangman, City Clerk, informed the Mayor and Council of an offer presented by John Deere Health Care to offer participation in the John Deere Clinic as an employee benefit option effective July 1st, 1995. This would be an additional option for employees to select as a health insurance benefit. John Deere has offered this option without limitations on the number of participants; if only one employee selects the Clinic it will honor the agreement. This plan would provide benefit levels equal to the Heritage Preferred, however subscribers would be limited to using the Health Center physicians, x-ray, laboratory and pharmacy services. Referrals will be made to specialists if the primary care physician approves this service. The City's cost for single and family coverage is a ten percent decrease in premium in comparison to a Heritage Preferred contract or the Benefit Administrators contract for fiscal year 1996. Staff is recommending that the employee participation be set at $15.00 per month for a single policy and $30.00 per month for a family policy. This is equal to one half of the employee cost per month for Heritage Preferred. The bargaining groups have been contacted about this offer and each bargaining group may participate in the open enrollment if the bargaining unit signs a letter of agreement to accept the John Deere Health Clinic as an employee benefit option. Councilperson Murphy now present at 5:40 p.m. It was moved by Getty, seconded by Krizek to place the contract with John Deere Health Care on the Council agenda for approval on April 24th. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Collier. Motion carried. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Krizek, seconded by Mollenhoff that the meeting be adjourned at 5:40 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Jordan, Collier. Motion carried. Susan Fangman City Clerk
