May 28, 1991
5:30 p.m.
Large Conference Room
Members present: Mayor McKinley, Wright, Fox, Budak, Angel,
Buck, Brown and Dell.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide an update
concerning progress to date of the Computer Technical Review
Committee. The following items were discussed:
- Committee goals and objectives
- Status of City-wide WordPerfect computer hardwiring
installation/computer acquisitions
- City policy on address changes/home numbering/GEO
coding
- Pavement Management/Work Management update and
demonstration
- Authorization to meet with utility companies to begin
development of a Geographic Information System (GIS)
Discussion was heard concerning possible re -addressing of
several hundred homes in the city. With the computerization
of parcel codes, it has been noted that some persons have
been issued incorrect addresses and the system now requires
accurate information to define the parcel and its location.
Councilperson Wright expressed her opposition to the changing
of any addresses.
Don Temeyer, Planning and Development Director, reported
that work continues on the pavement management system and
the input of initial data. This information will be used
for determination of streets to be included in future
reconstruction programs financed through the local option
sales tax. He also stated that the City will begin meeting
with various utility companies for development of a
geographic information system. It is hoped that in the
future, all utilities can be overlayed on one map and
greatly enhance information distribution.
No official action was taken by the Council at this meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
