HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/21/91(TTY COUNCIL WORK SESSION October 21, 1991 6:00 p.m. Large Conference Room Members present: Mayor McKinley, Dell, Brown, Buck, Budak, Angel and Wright. Members absent: Fox. The Agenda, as proposed, was approved. The purpose of the Work Session was to discuss ordinance changes relating to the keeping of domestic and non-domestic animals. Amendments to the animal and fowl portion of the City Code of Ordinances and the Zoning Ordinances were proposed for discussion purposes. The first ordinance would prohibit the keeping of non-domestic animals including, but not limited to horses, cows, calves, swine, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits or other fowl within 50 feet of any dwelling not occupied by the keeper. The zoning ordinance states that no more than four domestic animals would be permitted in any residential district. Further, there must be at least 20,000 square feet per animal with an additional 10,000 square feet for each animal exceeding two in number. There was considerable discussion on the definition of domestic animals as well as complaints that have spurred the ordinance changes. It was recognized that this was a serious problem in some areas and one which'is difficult to mediate. No official action was taken by members of the council. This item will be reviewed again by the City Council at a work session on Monday, November 4, 1991. With no further business before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. Larry P.
