The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Special Session at
City Hall Council Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa at 4:00 p.m., on May 31,
1984. Mayor, Bowers in the Chair. Roll Call: Seeber, Dowie, Wright,
Lichty, Klinger. Absent: Getty and Penaluna.
85819 - Moved by Klinger, seconded by Seeber
to receive and file copies of the call.
Motion carried.
85820 - Moved by Dowie, seconded by Lichty
that proof of publication of notice of public hearing to sell
Industrial Development Revenue Bonds - National Cattle Congress not
to exceed $10,000,000, as published in the Waterloo Courier on May
16, 1984, be received and placed on file.

85821 - HOLD HEARING --This being the time and place of public hearing the
Mayor called for written and oral objections and there were none.
Hugh Field, Chairman of the Greyhound Task Force, reported that the
application would be filed with the Commission on June 1, 1984, the
first day for filing. This action of the Council does not constitute
final approval.
Lyndal Graff, Secretary of National Cattle Congress, affirmed Mr.
Field's comments.
Jim Lawrence, speaking on behalf of Board of Directors of the
Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, presented a written statement of their
support.
Former Mayor Leo P. Rooff also spoke in support of the project.
Moved by Lichty, seconded by Dowie
that 'Resolution authorizing to proceed with issuance not to exceed
$10,000,000", be adopted. Ayes: Five. Absent: Getty and Penaluna.
Resolution adopted and upon approval by Mayor assigned No. 1984-217.
85822 - Moved by Wright, seconded by Lichty
that Pawnbrokers License and Bond of Duane Eilers, 2243 Independence
be received, placed on file and approved.
Motion carried.
85823 - Moved by Dowie, seconded by Seeber
that the Council adjourn.
Motion carried.
