The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Special Session in the
Council Chambers in City Hall at 4:15 P.M., on October 30, 1978,
the following call: pursuant to
TO CITY COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA:
You are hereby notified that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City
of Waterloo Iowa, will be held in the Council Chambers in City Hall, in the City
of -Waterloo, Iowa, at 4:15 P.M. on Monday, October 30, 1978, and that said
Special Meeting is being called for the purpose of a public hearing on plans,
specifications, etc. and taking of bids for San Marnan Drive Paving and Inci-
dentals, Contract No. 168, etc.
You are further notified that no other business except the above will be trans-
mitted at said Meeting.

Due, timely and legal service of the above notice is hereby accepted this 23rd
day of October, 1978 by me, a duly elected, qualified and acting Councilman of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa.

75244 - Moved by Roehr, seconded by Burton that Copies of the Call for the
Special Meeting of October 30, 1978 at 4:15 P.M. in the Council
Chambers in City Hall, be received and placed on file. Motion carried.
75245 - Moved by Dowie, seconded by Getty that proof of publication of notice
of hearing on proposed plans, specifications, form of contract,
estimated cost, etc. for San Marnan Drive Paving and Incidentals,
Contract No. 168, and the taking of bids therefor, be received and
placed on file. Motion carried.
75246 - This being the time for hearing, the Mayor called for oral and written
objections and there were none.
Moved by Bowers, seconded by Hutchison that "Resolution adopting plans,
specifications, form of contract and estimated cost, etc. for San
Marnan Drive Paving and Incidentals, Contract No. 16811, be adopted.
Ayes: Seven. Resolution adopted and upon approval by Mayor, assigned
No. 26033.
75247 - The Mayor thereupon announced that a further purpose of the meeting was
to open, consider and tabulate bids filed with Clerk prior to 4:00
o'clock P.M. on this date, in accordance with the plans and specifi-
cations now adopted.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Hutchison that the three bids be received,
placed on file, Clerk instructed to open same,but not read, and re-
ferred to Engineers for checking and report back. Motion carried.
75248 - Moved by Bowers, seconded by Wilharm that the Clerk be instructed to
read same, which were as follows:

75249 - The Engineers recommended acceptance of the low bid of Cedar Falls
Construction Co., Inc. of Cedar Falls, Iowa in the amount of $267,895.23
for Contract No. 168.
Moved by Roehr, seconded by Dowie that the above recommendation be re-
ceived, placed on file and "Resolution making award of contract (accepting
bid of Cedar Falls Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of
$267,895.23) for San Marnan Drive Paving and Incidentals, Contract No.
168", adopted. Ayes: Seven. Resolution adopted and upon approval by
Mayor, assigned No. 26034.
75250 - Moved by Bowers, seconded by Getty that the Council adjourn. Motion
carried.
