HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/08/79 (2)January 8, 1979 The Council of the City of Waterloo, Io a, met in a revenue sharing input hearing in the Council Chambers in the City Hall at 5:00 P.M. on January 8, 1979. Mayor Rooff in the chair. Present: Councilmen Bowers, Burton, Dowie and Wilharm. Mayor Rooff announced this was a public hearing required by law for input for the use of approximately $1,030,000 of federal general revenue sharing funds to be received by the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Plan and Program Director gave a general run down as to how previous funds were spent: 1978 - $600,000 Police Department $400,000 Fire Department 30,000 Swimming pools - operating Mayor Rooff stated the Council on Aging could not be here and presented it's request for $31,490, which represented a 7% increase over monies appro- priated for FY 790 . Moved by Councilman Dowie Seconded by Councilman Bowers that the above request from the Council of Aging be received and placed on file. Motion carried. Moved by Dowie, seconded by Burton that the proof of publication of notice of public hearing for input for use of approximately $1,030,000 of federal general revenue sharing funds to be received by the City of Waterloo, Iowa, as published in Waterloo Courier on December 22, 1978, be received and placed on file. Motion carried. The Mayor announced this was the time and place for the hearing, and called for proposals for the use of said revenue sharing funds. The Clerk reported the only written request was the above mentioned from the Council of Aging. Mayor Rooff called several times for input and then instructed the Clerk to let the records show there was no input from the public other than the above mentioned request. (Only four members of the private sector were in attend- ance, namely, Ruth Anderson, Fred Peterson, Tim O'Connor, student, and Don Wester, student, and one newsman,Ron DeChristopher.) There being no further business, it was moved by Bowers, seconded by Wilharm that the Revenue Sharing Input Meeting adjourn. Motion carried. Katherine Gibbs, City Clerk
