Members present: Mayor Rooff, Jordan, Getty, Krizek, Collier,
Anders, Mollenhoff.
Members absent: Murphy.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Murphy. Motion
carried.
The proposed Sewer Use Ordinance was reviewed. As part of the
Consent Order the Department of Natural Resources is requiring the
city to adopt the ordinance. If the city does not adopt the
ordinance, the city will be in violation of the Consent Order.
The Department of Natural Resources has reviewed and recommended
approval of the ordinance.
Bob Stevenson, Administrative Director, reviewed the questions that
were raised at the last work session on the proposed ordinance.
The information required from commercial and industrial users has
to be collected. It was previously discussed to send out a
questionnaire to be filled out by each business. It is now proposed
that the information required from commercial and industrial users
be collected by city staff. There will no fee charged to the
businesses to cover the costs of collecting the information. The
ordinance has been placed on tonight's council agendato set a date
of hearing for August 18, 19997. The Iowa Department of Natural
Resources requires that a public notice be posted and published.
There will be a 30 -day comment period before the ordinance is
adopted.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty,
seconded by Jordan that the meeting be adjourned at 6:04 p.m.
Ayes: Six. Absent: Murphy. Motion carried.
