Members present: Murphy, Krizek, Getty, Anders, Jordan.
Members absent: Mollenhoff, Collier.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Murphy that the Agenda, as proposed,
be approved. Ayes: Five. Absent: Mollenhoff, Collier. Motion
carried.
The Fire Arson Investigator Ordinance was reviewed. The ordinance
creates the position of fire arson investigator. The fire arson
investigator will perform all the duties and responsibilities of
investigating the cause, origin, and circumstances of fires. The
fire arson investigator will be a peace officer as set forth in
Iowa law and the investigator will have all the powers, duties and
responsibilities of a peace officer, which includes the power to
arrest. Moved by Jordan, seconded by Krizek that the Fire Arson
Investigator Ordinance be placed on the city council agenda of July
21, 1997. Ayes: Five. Absent: Mollenhoff, Collier. Motion
carried.
With no further business before the committee, it was moved by
Jordan, seconded by Krizek that the meeting be adjourned at 5:57
p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Mollenhoff, Collier. Motion carried.
