Recommended Action: Discussion
The City of Waterloo has recently acquired, through 657A, some lots near
Summary Statement: Salvation Army site. Reed Craft, representing the Salvation Anny, requested
a Work Session with City Council to discuss.
Expenditure Required: None
Source of Funds: NA
Infill development
Policy Issue: Sale of Property
Economic Development
Alternative: NA
Mr. Craft has requested the lots be sold to Salvation Army for expanded
parking. The Salvation Army has existing land they could expand parking
upon. The City staff have already shown this site to one potential
commercial building for infill development and expanded tax base.
Background Information:
Staff believes the City should retain the lots on Franklin Street for high
visibility and frontage on a major roadway, and work in partnership with
Salvation Army to expand their campus needs closer to the Argyle Street
portion of their campus.
