RESOLUTION NO. 2018-574
RESOLUTION APPROVING AWARD OF BID TO SPAHN &
ROSE LUMBER COMPANY OF JESUP, IOWA, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $134,610.00 IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
PURCHASE AND CONSTRUCTION OF A 60 FT. BY 80 FT.
POLE BUILDING AT THE CITY'S YARD WASTE SITE, AND
APPROVING CONTRACT, BOND AND CERTIFICATE OF
INSURANCE, AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENTS AND
RESCINDING RESOLUTION 2018-370.
WHEREAS, Spahn & Rose Lumber Company of Jesup, Iowa submitted a bid in the
amount of $134,610.00, and is the apparent low bidder in conjunction with the purchase and
construction of a 60 ft. by 80 ft. pole building at the City's Yard Waste Site, and
WHEREAS, Spahn & Rose Lumber Company submitted a written contract, per the
specifications heretofore adopted by this Council for said project with Resolution No. 2018-281,
after public hearing on April 30, 2018, in conjunction with the purchase and construction of a 60
ft. by 80 ft. pole building at the City's Yard Waste Site.
WHEREAS, expenses for office and restroom facilities in the amount of$8,750.00, were
not included in the previously approved amount when the bid was awarded to Spahn & Rose
Lumber Company by Resolution No. 2018-370.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA
1. That the bid of Spahn & Rose Lumber Company in the amount of$134,610.00, in
conjunction with the purchase of and construction of a 60 ft. by 80 ft. pole building at the City's
Yard Waste Site, is hereby awarded.
2. That the contract, bond and certificate of insurance submitted by Spahn & Rose
Lumber Company, in conjunction with the purchase of and construction of a 60 ft. by 80 ft. pole
building at the City's Yard Waste Site, are hereby approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk are
authorized and directed to execute said documents on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
3. That Resolution No. 2018-370 is hereby rescinded.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 30th day of July 2018.
