RESOLUTION NO. 2018-658
RESOLUTION APPROVING FILLING THE WARD 5
VACANCY BY SPECIAL ELECTION.
WHEREAS, Chris Shimp was elected to the office of City Council Ward 5 for a term
expiring on December 31, 2021, and
WHEREAS, Chris Shimp provided written notice of his resignation effective August 10,
2018, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the alternatives to fill the position available
under Iowa Code section 372.13(2) and has elected to fill the remaining unexpired term of said
elective office by special election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City Clerk shall give notice to the County Auditor in writing of
the intent to fill the office by special election and to work with the County Auditor to schedule a
special election on December 11, 2018, and to take all action and perform such other acts as
necessary and required to comply with Iowa Code section 372.13(2) to complete a special
election
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4h day of September 2018.
