The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Organizational Meeting at City Hall
Council Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa, at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, January 4, 2010. Mayor Timothy
J. Hurley in the Chair. Roll Call: Cole, Getty, Hart, Greenwood, Steve Schmitt, Welper,
Jones.
District Court Judge Thomas N. Bower administered the Oath of Office to Mayor -Elect Ernest
G. Clark.
Invocation by Dave Bartlett of Orchard Hill Reformed Church.
Mayor Clark administered the Oath of Office to newly elected 1st Ward Councilmember David
Jones.

that the Agenda, as proposed, for the Organizational Meeting on Monday, January
4, 2010, at 5:30 p.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
130425 - Hart/Welper
that the Oaths of Office of the Mayor and City Council Members be received and
placed on file. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
130426 - Schmitt/Greenwood
that communication from Mayor Clark transmitting recommendation of appointment of
Quentin Hart as Mayor Pro Tem, be received, placed on file and approved. Ayes:
Seven. Motion carried.
130427 - Getty/Schmitt
that communication from Mayor Clark transmitting recommendation of reappointment
of Tom Jennings as Chief of Waterloo Police Department through January 8, 2010,
and appointment of Captain John Beckman as interim Chief effective January 9,
2010, be received, placed on file and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.

that communication from Mayor Clark transmitting recommendation of reappointment
of Doug Carter as Chief of Waterloo Fire Rescue, be received, placed on file and
approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.

that the recommendation of Council Members to reappoint Jim Walsh as City
Attorney and Eric Thorson as City Engineer, be received, placed on file and
approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.

that the recommendation of Council Members to reappoint Carol Failor as Deputy
City Clerk, be received, placed on file and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion
carried.
