The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Special Session at City Hall Council
Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa, at 8:15 a.m., on Thursday, June 3, 2010. Mayor Ernest G. Clerk
in the Chair. Roll Call: Getty, Jones, Greenwood, Schmitt, Welper, Hart. Absent: Cole.
134536 - Hart/Greenwood
that copies of Call for the Special Session on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 8:15
a.m., be received and placed on file. Ayes: Six. Absent: Cole. Motion carried.
134537 - Hart/Greenwood
that the Agenda, as proposed, for the Special Session on Thursday, June 3, 2010,
at 8:15 a.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Cole. Motion
carried.
DOCUMENTS
134538 - Greenwood/Welper
that "Resolution approving request to assign the lease between the City of
Waterloo and International Wrestling Institute and Museum, Inc. (property
located at 303 Jefferson St.) to National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Incorporated,
and Oklahoma non-profit corporation", be adopted and Mayor authorized to execute
same.
Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard.
Mr. Getty asked the Mayor if the document provided by Mr. Walsh insures that in
case something happens to this organization that the building will remain in
Waterloo. Mayor Clark stated that the building will remain and it's immediate.
The language of the document is that we immediately retain ownership of the
building and the grounds. City Clerk Suzy Schares read the addendum to the
document. Mayor Clark stated he is very comfortable that City Attorney Jim Walsh
has covered the bases because he was the one with the concern that we do what is
necessary to insure this building stayed in our possession.
Following comments a vote was taken on the above motion with the following
result. Ayes: Six. Absent: Cole.
Resolution adopted and upon approval by Mayor assigned No. 2010-456.
