RESOLUTION NO. 2019-230 RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ENDORSING AN APPLICATION TO THE BLACK HAWK COUNTY METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSPORTATION POLICY BOARD FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE, FROM FEDERAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BLOCK GRANT FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $272,000 WITH A CITY MATCH OF $68,000, FUNDED FROM G.O. BONDS AND DEDICA I'ED TO PUBLIC USE AND ADEQUATELY MAINTAINED BY THE CITY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FIBER OPTIC COMMUNICATIONS AND MONITORING CAMERA PROJECT, FROM THE CITY TRAFFIC CONTROL CENTER (PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING) TO DONALD STREET. WHEREAS, the Black Hawk County Metropolitan Area Transportation Policy Board (MPO) provides Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program funds on a competitive basis for projects to preserve and improve the conditions and performance on any Federal -aid highway, bridge projects on any public road, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and transit capital projects; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Waterloo to avail itself of financial assistance through the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program as administered by the Black Hawk County MPO. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, as follows: 1) The STBG application for the Fiber Optic Communications And Monitoring Camera Project, from the City Traffic Control Center (Public Works Building) to Donald Street is hereby approved and endorsed by the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa. 2) The improvement provided for in this application will be dedicated to public use and adequately maintained by the City of Waterloo. 3) The City of Waterloo assures the Black Hawk County Metropolitan Area Transportation Policy Board that funds for the local match have been committed to the STBG project. 4) The Mayor is hereby designated as the official representative of the City and is further hereby directed and authorized to affix his signature to said application.
