AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2001 CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, BY
REPEALING SUBPARAGRAPH 1, OF PARAGRAPH A,
FEES ESTABLISHED, OF SECTION 4-3-6, FEES FOR
SERVICE, OF CHAPTER 3 , SOLID WASTE COLLECTION
AND DISPOSAL, OF TITLE 4 , PUBLIC HEALTH &
SAFETY; AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW
SUBPARAGRAPH 1, OF PARAGRAPH A, FEES
ESTABLISHED, OF SECTION 4-3-6, FEES FOR
SERVICE, OF CHAPTER 3 , SOLID WASTE COLLECTION
AND DISPOSAL, OF TITLE 4 , PUBLIC HEALTH &
SAFETY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO,
IOWA:
That Subparagraph 1, of Paragraph A, Fees Established, of
Section 4-3-6, Fees For Service, of Chapter 3 , Solid Waste
Collection and Disposal , of Title 4 , Public Health & Safety of
the 2001 Code of Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is
hereby repealed in its entirety; that a new Subparagraph 1, of
Paragraph A, Fees Established, of Section 4-3-6, Fees For
Service, of Chapter 3 , Solid Waste Collection and Disposal, of
Title 4 , Public Health & Safety, of the 2001 Code of Ordinances
of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is hereby enacted in lieu thereof
as follows :
4-3-6 : FEES FOR SERVICE :
A. Fees Established: The expense of garbage and
refuse collection and disposal and related solid
waste services as determined by the city council
shall become a charge against the owner or
occupant of every dwelling unit to whom service is
available :
The amount of the fee for this service shall be in
two (2) parts .
1 . The first shall be for a fixed sum per month
which shall be charged to all dwelling units and
shall entitle each dwelling unit to dispose of one
standard container per week on an automated refuse
route as follows :
Container Size Cost/Month
32 gallon cart $ 9 . 00
68 gallon cart $10 . 50
95 gallon cart $15 . 50
A fee shall be charged for one additional thirty
(30) gallon plastic bag placed upon the lid of
the refused cart per week. The fee shall be
collected by requiring the purchase of a tag that
must be affixed to the plastic bag placed out for
disposal . The fee or charge for this tag shall
be one dollar ($1 . 00) .
