AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, BY REPEALING
SECTION 2-16, MEETINGS : DATES, TIME AND
PLACE FOR REGULAR MEETINGS; ADJOURNED
MEETINGS; CALLING SPECIAL MEETINGS;
LIMITATION ON BUSINESS, OF DIVISION 1,
GENERALLY, OF ARTICLE II , THE COUNCIL, OF
CHAPTER 2 , ADMINISTRATION; AND BY ENACTING
IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION 2-16,
MEETINGS : DATES, TIME AND PLACE FOR REGULAR
MEETINGS; ADJOURNED MEETINGS; CALLING
SPECIAL MEETINGS; LIMITATION ON BUSINESS, OF
DIVISION 1 , GENERALLY, OF ARTICLE II , THE
COUNCIL, OF CHAPTER 2 , ADMINISTRATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO,
IOWA:
That Section 2-16, Meetings : Dates, Time and Place for
Regular Meetings; Adjourned Meetings, Calling Special Meetings;
Limitation on Business, of Division 1, Generally, of Article II,
The Council, of Chapter 2 , Administration, of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is hereby repealed in
its entirety; that a new Section 2-16, Meetings : Dates, Time
and Place for Regular Meetings; Adjourned Meetings; Calling
Special Meetings; Limitation on Business, of Division 1,
Generally, of Article II , The Council, of Chapter 2 ,
Administration, is hereby enacted in lieu thereof as follows :
Sec . 2-16 . Meetings : Dates, time and place for regular
meetings; adjourned meetings; called special
meetings; limitation on business .
(a) Regular meetings of the council shall be held on the first,
second, third, and fourth Mondays of each month at the council
chambers in the city hall at 5 : 30 p.m. , or at such other
designated place other than the council chambers per Subsection
(c) ; however, when a meeting date falls on a day designated by
the city as a holiday, then the regular meeting shall be held on
the following evening at 5 : 30 p.m. in the council chambers at
the city hall , or at such other designated place other than the
council chambers . The council may adjourn a regular meeting to
any date it may deem proper.
(b) Special meetings of the council may be called by the mayor
or by any three (3) councilpersons, by serving a written notice
of the special meeting on each of the councilperson, or by
leaving a copy thereof at his/her usual place of residence .
Only such business may be transacted at a special meeting of the
council as is mentioned or referred to in the written notice of
the meeting.

(c) Regular or special meetings of the council may be held at
such other designated place other than the council chambers in
the city hall as the council may deem advisable; provided,
however, such designation of a meeting place other than the
council chambers in the city hall shall be by council
resolution. Notice of such change of meeting place shall be
given to the general public by publication as provided in Iowa
Code Section 362 . 3 (1999) .
