RESOLUTION NO. 2019-389 RESOLUTION APPROVING VARIANCE TO NOISE ORDINANCE REQUEST FROM LATANYA GRAVES ON BEHALF OF THE NAACP/SOCIAL ACTION, INC., FOR THE 24TH ANNUAL JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION TO BE HELD AT SULLIVAN PARK ON JUNE 15, 2019, FROM 12 NOON TO 6:00 P.M., INCLUDING A DRILL TEAM, MUSIC WITH A D.J., AND USE OF A P.A. SYSTEM. WHEREAS, Latanya Graves, on behalf of NAACP/Social Action, Inc. is requesting a variance to the Noise Ordinance on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with the 24th annual Juneteenth Celebration Event to be held at Sullivan Park, including music with a D.J., drill team and the use of a PA System, and WHEREAS, said event will exceed the limits of Ordinance No. 3094, Noise Ordinance, and WHEREAS, Latanya Graves on behalf of NAACP/Social Action, Inc. has made formal application for a variance to the Noise Ordinance, together with recommendation and approval of the Captain of Police Services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the request of Latanya Graves on behalf of NAACP/Social Action, Inc. for a variance to the Noise Ordinance on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from Noon to 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with the 24th annual Juneteenth Celebration Event to be held at Sullivan Park, including music with a D.J., drill team and the use of a PA System, is hereby granted.
