AN ORDINACE REPEALING SECTIONS 28-35,
WEAPONS, EXPLOSIVES, FIREWORKS, ETC. ,
AND 28-51, HUNTING AND TRAPPING, OF
CHAPTER 28, PARKS AND RECREATION; AND
ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW SECTIONS
28-35, WEAPONS, EXPLOSIVES, FIREWORKS,
ETC. , AND 28-51, HUNTING AND TRAPPING,
OF CHAPTER 28, PARKS AND RECREATION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa, that Sections 28-35, Weapons, explosives,
fireworks, etc . , and 28-51, Hunting and trapping, of Chapter
28, Parks and Recreation, of the 1993 Code of Ordinances of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa, are hereby repealed in their
entirety; that new Sections 28-35, Weapons, explosives,
fireworks, etc . , and 28-51, Hunting and trapping, of Chapter
28, Parks and Recreation, of the 1993 Code of Ordinances of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa, are hereby enacted in lieu
thereof as follows :
Section 28-35 . Weapons, explosives, fireworks, etc.
(a) No person shall use or carry any firearms, air or
pellet guns, explosives, weapons, firecrackers or fireworks
of any character in any public park.
(a) Subsection (a) shall not apply to licensed bow
hunters in the designated areas of Katoski Greenbelt engaged
in deer hunting from November 1, 1997 , to December 18, 1997 ,
and from January 5, 1998, to January 10, 1998, as allowed by
the Iowa Department of Natural Resources under its Special
Deer Management Zone procedures . However, no bow may be
carried or displayed within 600 feet of any residence
without the permission of the owner, or within 75 feet of
any bike trail, nature trail, other recreational facility or
any other area posted as a no hunting area.
Section 28-51 . Hunting and Trapping.
(a) Hunting and trapping are prohibited. This
includes the use of firearms, air or pellet guns, bow and
arrow, trained hawk or falcon and harassment of animal and
bird life by whatever means .
(b) Subsection (a) shall not apply to licensed bow
hunters in the designated areas of Katoski Greenbelt engaged
in deer hunting from November 1, 1997, to December 18, 1997
and from January 5 , 1998, to January 10, 1998, as allowed by
the Iowa Department of Natural Resources under its Special
Deer Management Zone Procedures . However, no bow may be
carried or displayed within 60 feet of any residence without
the permission of the owner, or within 75 feet of any bike
trail, nature trail, other recreational facility or any
other area posted as a no hunting area.
