HomeMy WebLinkAboutFY2020 Digester #3 Lid RemovalSTATE OF IOWA, } Black Hawk County, SS NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING On Proposed Plans, Specifications, Form of Contract, And Estimate of Cost For the FY 2020 DIGESTER #3 LID REMOVAL In the City of Waterloo, Iowa CONTRACT NO. 982 RECEIVING OF BIDS Sealed proposals will be received by the City Clerk of the City,of:Watertoo; Iowa, at her office in the City Hall of the said City on the 11th day of July, 2019 until 1:00 p.m. for the construction of the FY 2020 DIGESTER #3 LID REMOVAL, Contract 982 as described in detail in the plans and specifications now on file in the Office of the City Clerk. OPENING OF BIDS All proposals received will be opened in the First Floor Conference Room at City Hall, in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, on the 11th day of July, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., and the proposals will be acted upon at such later time and place as may then be fixed by the City Council. PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that the Council of said City will conduct a public hearing on the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost for the construction of the above-described im- provement project at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th day of July, 2019, said hearing to be held in the Harold E. Getty Council Chambers in City Hall in said City. The proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost for said improvements heretofore prepared by the City Engineering Department are now on file in the office of the City Clerk for public examination, and any person interested therein may file written objection thereto with the City Clerk before the date set for said hearing, or appear and make objection thereto with the City Clerk before the date set for said hearing, or appear and make objection thereto at the meeting above set forth. Data Lead web site: http:/ /www.cmdgroup.com/project-leads/ SCOPE OF WORK The work shall include the following items: 1. Mobilize crew and equipment to project site and retum. 2. Submit a written work plan with proposed laydown location to the City for review and approval. 3. Meet with the City and Ovivo representatives on the day prior to the cover removal to review the laydown area and cover support/shoring. Ovivo is planning to be on site for three consecutive days to review the laydown area with the Contractor on day 1, and to conduct inspections on days 2 and 3. Ovivo's contact person is James Gold- hardt (801-931-3070). The cover shall be removed on day 2 of Ovivo's site visit. Ovivo's services are not part of this Contract No. 982. 4. Prior to cover removal, remove the internal draft tube mixers from the cover and store them on-site in a manner and location as recommended by Ovivo. Mixers shall be removed prior to Ovivo's site visit. ' 5. Remove the fixed digester cover (weighing approximately 45 tons) and place the cover on temporary shoring near the digester in a manner that will allow inspection of the cover by others and will not damage the cover. Provide hold-down cables if required to reduce the potential for uplift from wind loads. The cover should be placed as far away from the levee as practical. Contractor shall review the available lay -down area(s) with the City prior to the work being conducted. Level the cover on the temporary shoring. Provide design, mate- rials and erection of temporary shoring-. Provide details of temporary shoring to Ovivo and Owner prior to removing cover. 6. Restore levee and any area damaged by this work to its original condition. 7. Refer to Figure 1.00-1 bound at the end of the specifications for additional details.
