RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FROM CEDAR
VALLEY IRISH FEST CULTURAL ASSOCIATION TO HOLD
THE 13TH ANNUAL IOWA IRISH FEST EVENT FROM
AUGUST 2-4, 2019, IN AND AROUND LINCOLN PARK AND
SURROUNDING STREETS TO INCLUDE A NOISE
VARIANCE FOR THE DURATION OF THE FESTIVAL,
INCLUDING A 5K RUN ON AUGUST 3, 2019 FROM 6:30 A.M.
TO 10:15 A.M., ON THE DOWNTOWN STREETS.
WHEREAS, the Cedar Valley Irish Cultural Association has made written application to
the City Council asking that they be authorized and permitted to hold the 13th Annual Iowa Irish
Fest event on August 2-4, 2019, together with the approval of the approval of the Director of
Safety Services, and
WHEREAS, said event will be held at Lincoln Park to include the set up and tear down
on July 29, 2019 through August 7, 2019 including closing streets as follows: Closure on July 31,
2019 at 7:00 a.m. Park Avenue at Mulberry Street and Park Avenue at Franklin Street to re -open
at 2 00 p.m. August 5, 2019; Mulberry Street at E 4th Street and E 5th Street to re -open August
5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.; E 4th Street at Franklin Street, the 400 block of Mulberry Street, E Park
Avenue at Lafayette Street, the 500 block of Lafayette Street at alley, the 600 block of Lafayette
Street, E. 4th Street at Sycamore Street, to close August 1, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. and re -open August
4, 2019 at 11:00 p.m., Sycamore Street at E. 4th Street, and the 500 block of Sycamore Street to
close August 1, 2019 and re -open August 5, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the request of the Cedar Valley Irish Cultural Association to hold the
13th Annual Iowa Irish Fest and associated activities August 2-4, 2019, to include the set up and
tear down on July 30, 2019 through August 7, 2019, including closing the following streets:
Closure on July 31, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. Park Avenue at Mulberry Street and Park Avenue at
Franklin Street to re -open at 2 00 p.m. August 5, 2019; Mulberry Street at E. 4th Street and E. 5th
Street to re -open August 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.; E. 4th Street at Franklin Street, the 400 block of
Mulberry Street, E. Park Avenue at Lafayette Street, the 500 block of Lafayette Street at alley,
the 600 block of Lafayette Street, E. 4th Street at Sycamore Street, to close August 1, 2019 at 7:00
a.m. and re -open August 4, 2019 at 11:00 p.m., Sycamore Street at E 4th Street, and the 500
block of Sycamore Street to close August 1, 2019 and re -open August 5, 2019 at 3:00 p.m., is
hereby approved.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of July 2019.
