HomeMy WebLinkAbout3752-11/26/1990ORDINANCE NO. 3752 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1988 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTIONS (b) GARBAGE AND (j) YARD WASTE OF SECTION 16-1, DEFINITIONS, OF CHAPTER 16, GARBAGE AND REFUSE; AND BY ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW SUBSECTIONS (b) GARBAGE AND (j) YARD WASTE OF SECTION 16-1, DEFINITIONS, OF CHAPTER 16, GARBAGE AND REFUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA: That Subsections (b) Garbage and (j) Yard waste of Section 16-1, Definitions, of Chapter 16, Garbage and Refuse, of the 1988 Code of Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, are hereby repealed in their entirety; that new Subsections (b) Garbage and (j) Yard waste of Section 16-1, Definitions, of Chapter 16, Garbage and Refuse, of the 1988 Code of Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, are hereby enacted in lieu thereof as follows: (b) Garbage shall mean solid waste consisting of animal, grain, fruit, or vegetable matter used or originally intended for use as food. (j) Yard waste shall mean organic debris such as grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, bark, branches, flowers, etc. that are produced as part of a commercial or residential yard or garden operation, development, or maintenance. Yard waste will not include: Tree stumps. Material meeting the definition of "garbage" as provided herein. Flower and decorative products manufactured or fabricated or the waste by-products incidental to their manufacture, or fabrication, which include organic materials and other non-organic wastes which are not practically separable. Examples of this exemption include, but are not limited to things such as flower arrangements, decorated potted plants, wreaths, bouquets, garlands, and small bedding flats.
