Members present: Jones, Schmitt, Lind, Morrissey, Welper, and Hart. Absent: Cole.
Moved by Welper, seconded by Schmitt that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six.

Sewer - Next Steps.
John LaPointe, Interim Waste Management Director, explained the remedial measures and
schedule for completing those measures as required by the consent decree. He covered what has
been completed and what will be completed in the future. He reported that the televising of
service areas 15 and 16 is 95% complete and half of the footing drains in those areas have been
completed. The project that may be submitted to the DNR as the environmentally beneficial
project is a pervious pavement surfacing in the downtown area.
Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, explained that all of the projects currently underway
are already budgeted and planned for. There may be some small rate increases in the range of 4-
5% over the next five years to cover the capital improvements. The current sewer rates are very
low compared to other cities in Iowa.
With no further business before the Council, it was moved.by Schmitt, seconded by Welper that
the meeting be adjourned at 4:33 p.m. Ayes: Six., Motion carried
